Avery had finished all her classes toady but wasn't ready to go home just yet, or back to the dorms rather. Sure she had some homework she should be doing, and technically it wasn't good for the skin to lay out without any sunscreen on, but she really didn't care. So she might get a little sunburned, or someone she really didn't want to talk to would show up, but she would take her chances. As she walked through the school she thought of places she could go. The library popped up at first, but she didn't want to go and be the typical book worm, besides it was stuffie in there. Then she thought about going to a friends room, but she really didn't feel like being around anyone else at the moment. Sure her mind would probably change once she got around someone else but that would have to wait. Finally she made the decision to go and sit in the courtyard under a tree and read a book or work on her homework. So she headed out there, found her favorite tree and plopped down beneath it. Normally she had her iPod with her, however today she hadn't brought it and she was regretting it now. The girl loved music, she loves writing lyrics, she loved playing her guitar, and she especially loved listening to it. Now she sat down under the tree pulling out her notebook and flipping to the last page she had written on. Sure she should be working on her Physics homework, but she had so many words floating around in her head that she just wanted to clear everything before she tried to force herself to focus. After scribbling a few lyrics down she tossed the book aside and grabbed her Physics book. Flipping it to the chapter she was on she sighed heavily. Her brains were going to be the end of her if she had to keep on reading all these stupid boring books. After an attempt to write the essay and answer the questions about four time she sighed, slammed the book back and then leaned back against the tree. Closing her eyes she tilted her head up towards the sun. Smiling lightly she sighed again. "Abby would love today," she mumbled softly thinking of her still missing friend. Wearing This

She'd worked hard to arrange her schedule so that she had afternoons off. English classes were hard to schedule that way, but Kimmie had managed it. Of course it meant that the rest of her career would be spent without any free time in the afternoons, but for the moment, she was willing to deal with it. She had nowhere to go at this point, though. Most afternoons, she just went home or called a friend. Today, she'd managed to leave her cell phone at home. That was what oversleeping did for her. So she couldn't exactly call anyone, and she really didn't feel like making the walk back to the home she shared with her aunt.
The courtyard had always been one of her favorite places on campus, so Kimmie wasn't surprised when her feet led her there without having been given directions. Instead, she just smiled and looked around, watching the people around her. Usually, she could keep up the people watching habit for hours on end. But her fellow students seemed to be pretty boring today. With a sigh, she moved her messenger bag to the other shoulder, raked a hand through her loose curls, and started walking again.
About a minute later, she realized that she was bored and very much alone. Kimmie had always been horrible at being alone, and she certainly didn't relish the chance to practice becoming more comfortable with the concept. Instead, she resumed her search of the crowd, determined to find someone to talk to.
A smile curled her lips when her eyes came to rest on Avery, a close friend who just so happened to be absolutely adorable and looking fairly bored herself. Kimme let out a wolf whistle and headed in the other girl's direction. "Trying to stop traffic between classes?" she asked, taking a seat beside her friend. She tugged absentmindedly at one of her curls and let her eyes roam around again for just long enough to see that Avery had apparently been doing her homework. Clearly her interruption had come at exactly the right time.

Avery heard the voice and smiled to herself without opening her eyes and looking over at the speaker. It was Kimberly Mitchell of course, the beautiful blonde who was part of the same crowd that Avery ran with. Even without opening her eyes she could picture Kimmi, her curly blonde hair, and those eyes that could pierce a persons soul. Anyone who heard Avery talking about the other girl would think she was in love with her. That wasn't exactly the case, although Avery wouldn't deny having a little crush on the girl. Sure they were just friends, but that didn't mean that Avery couldn't be attracted to her a bit. In all honesty there were many things that were beautiful about the girl and Avery had never been one to ignore such things. Beauty was not just in the eyes of the beholder, not with Kimmi the girl was naturally beautiful. "Me stopping traffic?" she said laughing "If that's a reference at my looks than no. I don't think anyone would look twice at me with you around." Opening her eyes she looked over at her blonde friend and smiled gently before patting the ground beside her. Avery knew things about some people that would make their skin crawl, and she wondered quite often if that made people uncomfortable around her. Everyone knew that Abby had told her many things. In fact Avery had an enemy because of the secrets she had shared with Abby. She knew however, that she would never tell a single secret of Abby's. Even if Abigail never came home again, Avery would take the other girls secrets with her to the grave. Yet sometimes the burden was too much to bear for her and she just wished she could tell someone something about what she knew. Looking for a moment at her school book she reached out and closed it, shoving it back into her back pack and then throwing her bag to the side. She didn't want to focus on school right now, hell she got the grades easy enough as it was, and she really just wanted to talk to someone who wasn't trying to pump her for information about Abigail Hollows.Crossing her legs underneath her she turned her attention to he friend letting a large smile play across her face. Maybe Avery could finally let go of this whole idea everyone had that she was Abby's secret keeper and just live her life a bit more freely. It was Abigail who had helped Avery come out of her shell and realize that she didn't have to hide who she was. "So what are you doing out here? I thought you were booked straight through with classes. Our resident genius over here." Aver said this in a joking matter. Back in high school it had been Avery hiding behind books, hardly speaking to anyone, and she didn't mind still being known as a book worm. She had been quiet and unsure of herself. It wasn't a bad thing and she had come to realize that once she found who she was she was more open, out going and loud. People must have liked the change as well because they flocked to her. She loved having all the friends, but none of them would make up for Abigail...no one ever could. Wearing This

If there was anything at all that bothered Kimmie about her friend it was Avery's modesty. Surely she realized how gorgeous she was? Kimmie rolled her eyes and let out a short laugh. "That's hardly fair. You're way hotter than you let on, and you know it!" Truthfully, Kimmie would probably have said that to any of her friends, but she really meant it when she said it to Avery. Of course it was probably better if the girl didn't know that. Flirting with everyone only works when people don't realize who you're being sincere with.
Kimmie let the silence fall around them for a couple of minutes. As a rule, she hated silence. She usually had something to run her mouth about just to prevent the awkwardness that usually came with quiet moments. As it was, though, she really couldn't think of anything to say. Things around town had been so awkward since Abby's disappearance that silence was quickly becoming commonplace, and Kimmie was learning how to deal with it.
Quietly, she watched her friend, taking in the play of emotions in her eyes that suggested she'd been thinking about Abby, as well. People around here probably spent a lot more time thinking about Abby than was really normal or necessary. No amount of reminiscing was going to bring the girl back faster if she was going to come back at all. But it was hard not to miss the girl. She'd made life simpler for a lot of people. For others, she'd just made life better. If she was honest, Kimmie was a little jealous that she hadn't managed to have that much effect on anyone she knew.
Her eyes snapped back toward Avery when she began to speak. Kimmie watched her lips move, nearly managing to tune out the question. Fortunately, she was pretty good at picking up the pieces she managed to miss. Kimmie shrugged and smiled. "I get one glorious day a week with less classes," she admitted. Technically, it was her own fault. It didn't take a lot of work to discover that English majors were in class longer than most of their fellow students. If the amount of work had been an issue, though, she'd have quit a long time ago. "What's your excuse?" she asked, playfully sticking her tongue out at her friend.

A laugh escaped her at Kimmi's comment. She liked that her friend was so kind, but Avery still wasn't totally comfortable in her own skin. "Okay fine, I'm way hotter then I let on. Let's keep that between you and me though." She laughed lightly at her words, she would give in if that's what it meant to keep a fake argument from springing up. She found herself glancing over at her friend and wondering if maybe Kimmi really saw her as hot. Sure everyone knew that Kimmi was a blonde bombshell, incredibly gorgeous and attracting many boys, and girls, attention. Avery was slightly shocked that the silence feel so easily around them. Normally Kimmi was always talking, always had a story to tell and didn't care who actually wanted to hear it versus who was just there and stuck listening. The dark haired girl had always liked that about the blonde. While she wasn't a talkative one herself she enjoyed silence being filled. That was part of what she had liked so much about spending time with Abigail, she had always had something to say to her. It had really been her talkative nature that had pulled Avery out of her shell more. Noticing Kimmi watching her she wondered if her friend had also been thinking of Abigail. It would seem whenever silence fell around people in this town they were thinking about Abigail. No matter who they were, whether they had been friends with her or not, people found themselves slipping into thoughts of the missing girl. A true beauty, a youth, a bright spot in a dark moment, and now she was simply gone. Never would Avery say she was dead, never would she admit that perhaps Abigail was never coming back. "Ah a glorious day off, those are the bes," she muttered happily. A happy smile was returning to her face as she spoke to her friend. It was nice to be back out and about talking to friends. If anyone was able to brighten her day i twas one of her friends, and she knew that Kimmi's bright attitude was one of the greatest at making her smile. "I'm rebelling," she said jokingly as Kimmi stuck out her tongue. "I finished my classes for the day already. Not knowing what you want to major in fully makes it easy to get free moments." She shrugged her shoulders lightly before picking a piece of grass out of the ground and slowly shredding it into small pieces. Wearing This
