damien shook his head. ”i know that it wasn’t exactly the smartest thing to do, but trust me, you didn’t hurt me,” he assured her. personally, damien wasn’t going to lose sleep over what had happened, and he hoped siena would be able to get over it too because he definitely didn’t want to lose a friendship over something like that. what he knew, however, was that she was probably going to keep beating herself up over it. he may not have known siena as well as some, but he would like to think that he knew her at least well enough to know that.
”and don’t forget, abigail and i weren’t together. it’s not really the best of excuses, but you shouldn’t feel like you betrayed her. if it helps, you can do what everyone else around here has been doing and just blame it on me,” damien added with a smirk. hopefully she would find the humor in what he was saying because he hadn’t meant it spitefully. as far as he was concerned, she didn’t have anything to feel bad over. if abigail ever came back, that would have to be the last thing she’d be concerned with.

siena laughed a little and looked back up at him. he was just saying all the right things to make her feel better. everything she needed to hear he was saying. she didn't want to move from that spot with him.
"sorry for like avoiding you." she said, pushing her hair behind her ear. she tries to avoid conflict at all costs. she hated fighting with anyone.
"i just didn't know what was gonna happen. immature, right?" she said with a small laugh, avoiding eye contact with him. she was embarrassed. it wasn't that she didn't want him in her life, she just felt so lost, like she'd messed everything up. it was good to know he wanted to be friends still.

“i think we’re all entitled to a little immaturity,” damien said, shrugging. this was just another one of those privileges that he tended to abuse. to be honest, damien hadn’t even noticed that siena had been avoiding him. he had just been so caught up in everything he was doing lately that he hadn’t spent much time thinking about anyone else… and even if he had, he would probably have assumed that she was just caught up in her life too. with everything that was going on, it was to be expected (or so he assumed… he didn’t really know that much about serious situations).
”look, don’t worry about it,” he said, shaking his head. ”no matter what happens, you can talk to me.” he probably wasn’t likely to be very empathetic, but he could be nice at the very least. damien wasn’t the sort to hold a grudge; life was just too short to let other people get to you. this was the philosophy that helped him deal with his parents as well as the friends who weren’t really friends over the years. why should he let anyone else have that sort of control over him? if he couldn’t get his anger out right away in the form of a fight or something equally destructive, he’d just forget about it.

siena could tell something was off they'd never been super close, but he used to care. now it just seemed like she was going through the motions of life, like nothing mattered. it concerned her. abby loved damien, and siena was gonna make sure he was gonna be okay. no matter what that meant, she owed abby that much.
"you've changed." she said softly looking at him now. it'd been two months and he'd seemed to do a whole 180. she didn't want things to change though she knew they had to. there was really nothing she could do about it anymore.

damien shook his head, accompanying that with an unnecessary shrug. ”not really. i just haven’t had my coffee yet,” the boy joked, winking. it was true, to be honest. he had changed, but was that really a bad thing? he was on a whole new phase of his life now. he was supposed to change. besides, with everything that was happening, he had a feeling everyone was going to come out different. just because things had been good, people wanted them to stay the way they were. damien wouldn’t have hated it if they did, but he also knew that they couldn’t, so what was the point in worrying about it?
”anyway, i should probably get to that,” he told her, standing. ”this was nice, though… we should talk more often.” he may not have wanted to spend much time thinking about abigail, but he also didn’t want to avoid the friends they shared just because of that. everyone around here was feeling something, and he could honestly use as many friends as he could get who didn’t think that he might’ve killed someone.

siena frowned a little when he said he had to go but she quickly put a smile back on her face.
"yeah, definitely." she said and a fake smile. abby had been gone for two months and still it was hard, everything was hard. it needed to end. people needed closure.
